The International Workshop on Challenges in Smart Grid and Renewable Resources was conducted on May 13-15 at Infosys Campus, Mysore, India. The workshop was organized by IEEE Power and Energy Society, Bangalore Chapter and IEEE Bangalore section. The workshop focused on the vision of Smart and Intelligent Grid including topics on communication infrastructure, key technologies, regulatory frameworks and the role of standards. The workshop was well attended by delegates from the various government bodies, private sector companies and academia.

the workshop as well as a member of the core organizing committee involved in
the smooth conduct of the event. Jose Thomas and Toney Kurian from Kalkitech presented
papers on the topics ‘Relevance of Common Information Models Interface
Definition in Next Generation EMS-DMS Systems’ and ‘Generic Modern Process Bus
technologies and the Precision Time Protocol - IEEE 1588’ respectively.
